Use Audience Analytics to Better Understand Contact Growth, Composition, and Behavior

The SlickText Audience dashboard provides an understanding of your audience growth, composition, and behavior. View how many contacts and subscribers you have. See when and how they opted in to receive your messages. Understand how many are opting out and when. To learn more about SlickText’s Analytics, click here.

Find Audience Analytics

  1. Log In to SlickText. 
  2. In the left navigation menu, click Analytics to expand the menu, then select Audience.

Key Metrics and Data Definitions


Total Contacts

Displays the current total number of contacts for the brand, regardless of their opt-in status. Click on it to navigate to the Contacts page.


Total Subscribed Contacts

Displays the current total number of contacts that are opted-in to receive campaigns and automated messages. Click on it to navigate to the Contacts page, filtered by subscribed contacts.


Contacts By Source

Displays the current total number of contacts broken down by their source of creation. Click on a creation source in the legend to temporarily hide it in the chart. Click on it again to unhide it.

Creation Sources:

  • Import  - Contacts that were imported from a .csv file. 

  • Manual Creation - Contacts that were created by a user from the Contacts page in SlickText.

  • Keyword - Contacts that were created when the contact texted a keyword to your number to opt in.

  • Webform  - Contacts that were created when someone opted-in via a SlickText webform.

  • Popup - Contacts that were created using a SlickText website popup.

  • Inbox - Contacts that were created via the Inbox. Contacts are created via the Inbox when a user starts a conversation in the inbox with someone who is not an existing contact or when someone who is not an existing contact sends a text to your number.

  • API - Contacts that were created via the SlickText API.

  • Integration - Contacts that were created via one of SlickText’s native integrations.


Contacts By Opt-In Status

Displays the current total number of contacts broken down by their opt-in status. Click on an opt-in status in the legend to temporarily hide it in the chart. Click on it again to unhide it.

Opt-In Statuses:

  • Not Subscribed - Contacts that are not subscribed cannot receive campaigns, workflow messages, or any other type of automated message. They can only be texted via the inbox.
  • Pending Subscription - Contacts that are pending subscription are in the process of a double opt-in. They must reply with the word YES before moving to subscribed. They cannot receive campaigns, workflow messages, or any other type of automated message. They can only be texted via the inbox.
  • Subscribed - Contacts that are subscribed can receive any type of text message from you. This includes campaigns, workflow messages, automated messages, and inbox texts.
  • Unsubscribed - Contacts that are unsubscribed can no longer receive campaigns, workflow messages, or any other type of automated message. However, they can still be texted via the inbox. Once unsubscribed, only the contacts themselves can re-subscribe.
  • Blocked - Blocked contacts cannot interact at all with the SlickText brand. All inbound text messages from these contacts will be ignored and no outbound messages can be sent to them.

Behavior Metrics and Data Definitions


Contact Subscribes

Displays the number of contacts that unsubscribed over the specified time period. This includes new contacts created in the time period who subscribed as well as contacts created before the time period, but who subscribed during the specified date range.

Total New Subscribes is the sum of all the contacts that subscribed over the time period.

To use this chart:

  1. Click the dropdown in the top right corner of the chart and select a time period.
  2. Choose a predefined range, such as today, this quarter, or last month. 
  3. Or, define a custom range, enter the date ranges, and click Update.
  4. If desired, click on the 3 dots next to the date range dropdown and select Settings to
    • Change the frequency – this will define the time periods displayed on the x-axis. 
    • Add a comparison – this will allow you to choose a time period to compare against.

Note:

If a contact subscribed during the specified time period, they will be counted on this chart even if they unsubscribed during the time period. This chart shows all contacts that subscribed during the time period regardless of their current opt-in status.


Contact Unsubscribes

Displays the number of contacts that unsubscribed over the specified time period.

Total New Unsubscribes is the sum of all the contacts that unsubscribed over a time period.

To select the date range for this chart:

  1. Click the dropdown in the top right corner of the chart and select a time period.
  2. Choose a predefined range, such as today, this quarter, or last month. 
  3. Or, define a custom range, enter the date ranges, and click Update.
  4. If desired, click on the 3 dots next to the date range dropdown and select Settings to
    1. Change the frequency – this will define the time periods displayed on the x-axis. 
    2. Add a comparison – this will allow you to choose a time period to compare against.

Note:

If a contact unsubscribed during the specified time period, they will be counted on this chart even if they re-subscribed during the time period. This chart shows all contacts that unsubscribed during the time period regardless of their current opt-in status.


Acquisition and Growth Metrics and Data Definitions


New Contacts by Source

Displays the number of new contacts created over the specified time period by when they were created. It breaks the contact data down by opt-in source. Click on a data creation source in the legend to temporarily hide it. Click it again to unhide it.

Total New Contacts is a sum of all the contacts created over the specified time period.

To select the date range for this chart:

  1. Click the dropdown in the top right corner of the chart and select a time period.
  2. Choose a predefined range, such as today, this quarter, or last month. 
  3. Or, define a custom range, enter the date ranges, and click Update.

Contact Growth

Displays the total number of contacts as they have increased or decreased over the specified time period.

Contacts Created is the difference between the total number of contacts at the end of the time period and the total number of contacts at the start of the period.  

To use this chart:

  1. Click the dropdown in the top right corner of the chart and select a time period.
  2. Choose a predefined range, such as today, this quarter, or last month. 
  3. Or, define a custom range, enter the date ranges, and click Update.
  4. If desired, click on the 3 dots next to the date range dropdown and select Settings to
    1. Change the frequency – this will define the time periods displayed on the x-axis. 
    2. Add a comparison – this will allow you to choose a time period to compare against.


Contact Growth by Source

Displays the total number of contacts as they have changed over the specified time period. It breaks the contact data down by opt-in source. Click on a data creation source in the legend to temporarily hide it. Click it again to unhide it.

Net New Contacts is the difference between the total number of contacts at the end of the time period and the total number of contacts at the start of the period.
