Increase Brand Recognition with Contact Cards

Text messaging is how people prefer to stay in touch with their friends, family, and the brands they love — making it one of the best ways to engage with your contacts. But it also means that people are likely subscribed to multiple brands. Sending your contacts a Contact Card is a great way to differentiate your brand so they’ll see and recognize your name and not just your phone number. It is also a great way to help ensure your messages are not inadvertently filtered to your contact's spam folder.

A Contact Card, also known as a vCard, is a virtual business card that contains your contact information, such as brand name, logo, email addresses, phone numbers, and website address. You can send them via text message to your subscribers. When someone receives your vCard, they can click it and instantly add it to their contacts. Now when you text, your name or your brand’s name will appear as the sender.

SlickText offers the ability to create and share your vCard in several ways — include them in auto-replies when people subscribe, in your text message campaigns, or as part of automated workflows

Creating and Editing a Contact Card in SlickText

SlickText allows you to create and store a Contact Card for your brand that can easily be shared in a message.

Follow these steps to create and edit your Contact Card.

  1. Click your name in the bottom left corner and select Settings.
  2. Select Contact Card.
  3. Some of your brand's information will be pre-populated based on what you've already provided. Enter or change the details you want to sent to contacts on your Contact Card, such as:
    1. Brand Name
    2. Website
    3. Phone Number (required)
    4. Email Address
    5. Physical Address
    6. Attach a logo
  4. Click Save.

Sending Your Contact Card In Messages

Once you've created a Contact Card, you can easily attach it to a message, whether it be in a Campaign message, Keyword auto-reply, an Inbox message, or a Send Message action object in a Workflow.

  1. In the Message draft box, select the Contact Card icon.
  2. Confirm the contact information shown in the popup window is correct.
  3. Select Attach to add your Contact Card to the message.

Note:

Attaching a Contact Card turns your message into an MMS and costs 3 credits for each contact receiving the message.

Creating a vCard Outside of SlickText

If you prefer, you can create a vCard outside of SlickText to attach to messages as you would an image. Most mobile phones allow you to create vCards, or you can create one using an online vCard generator.

  1. On an iPhone or Android device, open your Contacts app.
  2. Create a new contact for your brand, including your sending number, brand name, and logo, as well as other relevant information such as support emails and company URLs.
  3. Once you have your new contact created, from the contact profile, scroll down to select Share or Export. This will create a .VCF file, which is the specific file type for storing and transferring contact details as a vCard.
  4. Save the .VCF file to your computer. This file is now available for you to share via SlickText.

Note:

If you are using an externally created vCard rather than a SlickText Contact Card, you will use the paper clip icon to attach the vCard to your messages instead of the Contact Card icon.
