Text messaging is how people prefer to stay in touch with their friends, family, and the brands they love — making it one of the best ways to engage with your contacts. But it also means that people are likely subscribed to multiple brands. Sending your contacts a vCard, or a contact card, is a great way to differentiate your brand so they’ll see and recognize your name and not just your phone number.
A vCard is a virtual business card that contains your contact information, such as your brand name, logo, email addresses, phone numbers, and website address. You can send them via text message to your subscribers. When someone receives your vCard, they can click it and instantly add it to their contacts. Now when you text, your name or your brand’s name will appear as the sender.
SlickText offers the ability to share your vCard in several ways — include them in auto-replies when people subscribe, in your text message campaigns, or as part of automated workflows.

Adding VCards to Auto-Replies, Workflows and Campaigns
Creating a vCard
Before you can send a vCard to your subscribers, you first need to create one. You will need to do this outside of SlickText. Most mobile phones allow you to create vCards, or you can create one using an online vCard generator.
- On an iPhone or Android device, open Contacts.
- Create a new contact for your brand including your number, brand name, and logo, as well as other relevant information such as support emails and company URLs.
- Once you have your new contact created, from the contacts page, scroll down to select Share or Export. This will create a .VCF, which is the specific file type for storing and transferring contact details as a vCard.
- Save the .VCF file to your computer. This file is now available for you to share via SlickText.
Adding vCards to Auto-Replies, Workflows and Campaigns
You can add a vCard to the messages you send your subscribers, including auto-replies, messages sent from workflows, and campaigns.
Note:
Adding attachments does consume more messaging credits, but as described above, they can be worth it with the level of brand recognition and authenticity you provide your subscribers.
Attaching a vCard to an Auto-Reply
There are several different places in SlickText to create auto-reply messages.
- While setting up your Auto-Reply, click the paperclip icon.
- Select your vCard (.VCF file) from your saved files.
- Click Save Auto-Reply. Now, anytime this auto-reply is sent, it will contain your vCard.
Note:
Try attaching your vCard to your welcome messaging, encouraging new subscribers to add you to their contacts to receive a special offer.
Attaching a vCard in a Workflow
You can attach a vCard to the Send Message action object in Workflows.
- Drag and drop the Send Message action object to the appropriate place within the Workflow.
- Hover over the top-right corner of the object to reveal the gear icon.
- Click the gear icon to edit your settings.
- Click the paperclip icon from the icon bar to attach a file.
- Select your vCard (.VCF file) from your saved files.
- Click OK to save. Now, whenever Workflows delivers this message, it will contain your vCard.
Attaching a vCard to a Campaign:
- Navigate to the Campaigns page. Click Create Campaign.
- Compose your message in the Text Message box.
- Click the paperclip icon.
- Select your vCard (.VCF file) from your saved files.
- Send or schedule your message. The message will contain your vCard.
